NPK REQUIREMENTS OF TURMERIC FOR CULTIVATION IN PUNJAB

چکیده

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is an important commercial crop grown since ancient times because of its aromatic rhizomes mainly used for medicinal, culinary and cosmetic purposes. cultivated nearly throughout Pakistan Punjab province a major contributor to turmeric production. Fertilizer rates are great determinants the yield turmeric. Therefore, this study was conducted at standing point on nutritional requirements (NPK) produce high suggest solid adequate NPK dose production following long-term field experiments including confirmatory studies. Thus, in 2009 2011, five were performed farmers' fields, with treatments consisting nitrogen levels (0, 60, 120, 180, 240 Kg ha-1 ), four phosphorus 40, 80, 120 ) three potassium 80 repeated Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) assess fertilizer requirement. Based results obtained from two 2012 one rate (180 ha 1 (80, 160, 200, (40 replications as study-1 confirm In 2013 2016, studies farmers ' fields six 240, 280 replicates 2, 3, 4 & 5 The showed that by applying @180:280:80 ha-1, maximum significant fresh rhizome can be recommended trust farmers. It also established requirement much higher than N K particularly soil deficient available phosphorus.

Phosphate solubilizers enhance NPK fertilizer use efficiency in rice and legume cultivation

It has been reported that phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) are the most promising bacteria among the plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR); which may be used as biofertilizers for plant growth and nutrient use efficiency. Moreover, these soil micro-organisms play a significant role in regulating the dynamics of organic matter decomposition and the availability of plant nutrients such...

Effect of Slow Release NPK Fertilizer Sources on the Nutrient use Efficiency in Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.)

Nutrient losses due to leaching, volatilization and fixation and the activated risk of nitrate leaching after fertilizer addition to the soil may be reduced through the use of slow-release fertilizers. Turmeric, a long duration and high yielding commercial crop consumes greater amount of nutrients from the soil as well as from applied fertilizers for a prolonged period. A field experiment was c...

Nutritional Requirements O F Substrates for Ornamental Plant Cultivation

It is well known that growth and yield of horticultural crops can be greatly increased by optimizing the nutritional status of the root environment. Based on plant response, involving numerous fertilizer experiments for the different plants and substrates involved, guidelines can be proposed for optimal nutrient solution and pot substrate conditions. The main factors to be considered are sampli...

An Analysis of Bt Cotton Cultivation in Punjab , Pakistan Using the Agriculture Decision Support System ( ADSS )

Introduction Pakistan is the 4th top producer of cotton in the world (Table 1), yet in terms of yield it is at the distant 10th position. There are many possible reasons for low cotton yields in Pakistan—high prices of agricultural inputs (pesticides, fertilizers, etc.), higher intensity of insect and pest attacks, deficiency of water for irrigation, lack of advanced technologies and awareness,...
